“I am fascinated in capturing humanity in its most poignant, fragile and raw form.  I explore the beauty and complexity of the human body with all its perfections and imperfections, and the relationship between the surface layers of flesh, bones, muscles and scars with the emotions and lived experiences that lie beneath. My wish is that through my art I imbue my subjects with a voice to share their stories. Wherever possible, I will paint from life so that I can observe the authentic, non-curated moments of human interaction and connection and capture the essence of their character and a sense of their presence through my art."

SHENG XINYU ART

From more than 5,000 works submitted by artists from around the world, it is not an easy task to select a few that meet the criteria and award them. This is the case at the just-concluded 17th ARC International Salon Competition, the world's largest award selection process. We finally awarded the "Sheng Xinyu Art" award to six artists, and the work of young British painter Laura Arenson - "Hate Never Wins" (Susan Pollack, Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp survivor) is one of them!
